Golf Courses at the Belle Mare Plage

The Legend and The Links

The two championship golf courses, The Legend & The Links are of international standard. Each 18 holes is a real challenge for professional and amateurs alike, recognised by the PGA and various other federations, these courses were conceived to annually host a number of international competitions including the Mauritius Open.

The Legend

Golf at the Legends, Belle Mare Plage Mauritius"The Legend", first of its kind in Mauritius, designed by South African champion, Hugh Baiocchi, is the crowning achievement of the resort, located along one of the most superb beaches on the island. Each of the 18 holes has distinctive characteristics. Superb fairways are laid in the heart of an indigenous forest, culminating on velvet greens, made to US PGA regulations.

Teeing off at the par three 17th hole is a feast for the eyes and a test for the nerves. You are playing across the lagoon, but we have found that it is actually not a difficult as the green is fairly large, the sting in the tail is that the green is also tricky and a par score can be hard to achieve if you end up a long way from the hole. The course has a lot of water and thick scrub so take plenty of balls but having played it on many occasions we love this course. This is a walking course and buggies are optional and cost approx. £14 per person. Caddies are also available and cost around £3 to £5 for 18-holes.

The Links

Golf at the Links, Belle Mare Plage MauritiusThe second Championship Golf Course, designed by Rodney Wright & Peter Alliss opened in November 2002. This 18-hole links course was conceived as a result of the success and demand encountered by Hotels Constance first course, "The Legend".

Sitting beneath the clubhouse that faces the setting sun, the course measures 5,927 m and has a par of 71. Equipped with a practice fairway, this 18-hole course is set in a location that seems to have been naturally created for the purpose. The course is not a true links course but has many features of a traditional links layout, particularly elevated greens. The course is more forgiving than the Legends but we have fond it to be pretty challenging but fair. Buggies are compulsory on this course and cost approx. £14 per person (not per car) for 18 holes and this includes tees, towels and water. Caddies are not available.
